Colours of Confidence

On a dewy morning, as the sun gently began to warm up the garden, there was a ladybug who felt unhappy. Despite her beautiful red shell with black spots, she was upset because her face was entirely black and wished she looked differently.

As she flew through the garden, she noticed a light yellow butterfly fluttering nearby.

Ladybug: “Wow, you look so beautiful! Your yellow wings are like sunshine.”

Butterfly: “Oh, thank you! You look lovely too. But why do you look sad? Is everything okay?”

Ladybug: “I’m fine, but my looks are concerning me. I don’t like my black face. I wish I looked different.”

Butterfly: “Your face is part of what makes you unique. Each creature has its own special features. Remember, it’s our differences that make us beautiful. I must be off now. See you later!”

Feeling a bit better, the ladybug continued her flight and soon saw a cricket resting on a leaf.

Ladybug: “Hi, Chirpy cricket! Your green body is as striking as your chirp!”

Chirpy Cricket: “Thank you! Howdy, my lovely lady! You look stunning with your colours. But i see something is bugging you, Care to Share?”

Ladybug: “Thank you, I love my red shell with black spots, but I don’t like my black face.”

Chirpy Cricket: “What you see as a flaw is actually part of what makes you unique. Your black face stands out in its own way. I have to go now. Bye!”

Next, the ladybug flew over to a Buzzing bee.

Ladybug: “Hi, Buzzing bee!”

Buzzing bee: “Wow, wow, wow, who’s in sight? This day just got a lot more bright!”

Ladybug: “Thank you, Your yellow and black stripes look fantastic. It’s a treat to watch you, just as much as it is to taste your honey.”

Buzzing bee: “Thank you! I am often praised for my honey, but it is nice to hear about my looks too. Why does my ladybug friend seem so down?”

Ladybug: “I’m going through some self-doubt! I don’t like my black face. I wish my face colour were different”

Buzzing Bee: “You have a unique combination of colours that make you special. It’s not about changing how you look but embracing your unique features. I need to get going now. Bye!”

As the ladybug flew on, she couldn’t shake off the lingering doubt. She wondered if there was someone who might understand her feelings a bit better. Just then, she spotted a chameleon resting on a green leaf.

Ladybug: “Green is such a lovely colour. You look amazing, Chameleon!”

Chameleon: “Thank you! Why do I see a sad red ladybug? “

Ladybug: “I’m a bit worried about my looks, especially my black face!”

Chameleon: “Oh, I’m sorry to hear that. It is important to remember that every feature has its own beauty. What you might see as a flaw is actually a special part of who you are.”

She looked closely at her reflection in the dewdrop, noticing for the first time how her black face made her red shell and black spots shine even brighter. It was as if the black was the perfect frame, making her true colours stand out.

As she was about to fly away, the chameleon gently touched the ladybug’s shoulder and said, “You know, sometimes the best way to see the beauty in ourselves is to help others see it too. When I was younger, I struggled with my changing colours and felt unsure about how I looked. But I learned that each change is a part of who I am, just as your unique face is a special part of you.”

With that, the chameleon began to change its colours to match the ladybug’s pattern, creating a beautiful harmony of reds and blacks. The ladybug watched in awe and realized that her unique colours made her stand out in a way that others could admire.

Feeling uplifted by the chameleon’s gesture, the ladybug flew joyfully through the garden. She greeted the butterfly, cricket and bee once again, her confidence shining through. They all noticed how she glowed with a new light, and the ladybug knew she was truly special just the way she was
