Once upon a time, in a lively paint box, the colours began to argue with each other claiming to be the most important and beautiful of all.

Green stood tall and declared, “I am the colour of life! You see me in the trees, the grass, and even deep within the oceans. I am everywhere! Without me, the world would be dull and barren. Surely, I must be the queen of all colours.”

Yellow, glowing brightly, chimed in, “You may be right Green, but I am the colour of the sun! I bring warmth and light to everything around. My golden rays touch everything and bring happiness. How can any colour shine brighter than me?”

Blue, calmly responded, “I am the colour of the sky, the vast ocean and freedom. I bring peace and tranquillity wherever I am. Without me, the world would lose its sense of calm. I am the true ruler.”

Then, Brown spoke up, “I am the colour of the earth, the soil that gives life to everything you see. From the bark of trees to the rocks beneath your feet, I am the foundation. My shades are rich and deep, making me the most essential of all.”

Red, with fiery passion, interrupted, “How can you all forget me? I am the colour of blood, of love, and of passion! I bring life to the world and fill it with energy. My intensity cannot be matched! With the longest wavelength, I am bold and impossible to miss!”

Black, quiet but powerful, whispered, “You may all shine, but without me, none of you would stand out. I am the darkness that makes the stars shine brighter. I give depth and mystery. Where would White be without me? I am the silent strength among you all.”

White stepped forward and said, “I am made from all of you combined. I carry the essence of every single colour within me. In my simplicity lies my power. Without me, the world would lose its purity and balance. Surely, I am the greatest.”

As the argument continued, a soft voice cut through the noise. It was Pink, cheerful and gentle. “Look at all of you,” Pink said with a smile. “Each of you is special in your own way and when you blend together, you create something even more magical — the rainbow. Together, we fill the world with wonder. And while some of us, like Green, Blue, and Red are primary and stand strong on our own, others, like me, are created by blending. But even those colours born from combinations, like Purple or Orange bring their own beauty to the world.”

The colours paused, realizing the truth in Pink’s words. They had spent so long thinking about their individual beauty and strength that they had forgotten something important: together, they created something far more wonderful than they ever could alone. “Look at the sky” said pink joyfully after seeing a rainbow. The colours looked up in awe as the rainbow arched across the sky, their shades blending together in perfect harmony. All the colours giggled with happiness and said in chorus, “We are ready to paint our masterpiece.”

The Little Word That Changed Everything

Divya was a soft-spoken, hardworking and kind-hearted child. She always loved helping her parents and friends whenever she had free time.  Whenever Divya heard “no” as an answer, she felt bad and began to think it wasn’t a nice word. It hurt her feelings and made her feel as if no one liked her. So she told herself softly, “I will never say ‘no’ and make anyone feel sad.”  So, little by little, she decided to keep that word away. Instead, she started saying “yes”, just to keep everyone smiling.  When she couldn’t say “yes,” Divya simply stayed quiet. Everyone thought her silence meant she agreed, but the truth was, she just didn’t know how to say “no” without making others feel bad.  As time passed, the cheerful little girl slowly became quiet and lonely. She stopped enjoying the little things she once loved.  One day, during her favourite drawing class, tears quietly rolled down Divya’s cheeks. The room, usually filled with colours and laughter, felt different ...

Song of the Two Skies

“ Kree-kree-kreee!” called Meenu, the chattiest little myna in all of Mallandur. Every morning, her voice danced through the coffee plantation, echoing between the roofs and the wild pepper vines. Mallandur was no ordinary place. It was where the city met the forest. On one side, there were zooming scooters and honking cars, clinking coffee cups, chattering people, and children running to school. On the other side stood whispering trees, sparkling streams and hills wrapped in the morning mist.  And right in between sat Meenu, the clever, curious and full of song. She perched on electric wires, feasting on berries and bugs and sometimes dipped her beak into bright yellow flowers, just to see what sweetness they held.  “Ah, what a lovely day to sing!” she would chirp, shaking her little wings with pride. One afternoon, as she was swinging on the wire, the air began to feel strange. The leaves rustled faster and the sky slowly turned grey. “Hmm… maybe a storm is coming. I’d bette...

Together we explore

Prema sat quietly in the living room, her hands clasped tightly around a warm cup of tea. She watched her 4-year-old son, Hemanth, playing with his toys on the floor, his mind always buzzing with questions. Lately, those questions had been coming faster and more frequently, and she found herself struggling to keep up. Prema and Hemanth, sitting in the hall That evening, after a long day, Prema felt overwhelmed. She turned to her husband, Raju, who was typing away on his laptop nearby. "Raju," she began hesitantly, "I need to talk to you about something." Raju looked up from his screen, concern etched on his face. "What is it, Prema?" Prema sighed, her voice filled with frustration and doubt. "Hemanth keeps asking me so many questions. Simple questions, really, but I just don’t know the answers. It’s starting to make me feel so small, like I don’t know anything about the world. I’m afraid that one day, he’ll realize I don’t have all the answers and he’...
